Cary McWilliam first danced with Danny back in the early 90’s with Where’re You Walk and then continued her work with him with Artichoke Dance Company. She began dancing with Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company at its inception in 1999 where she was both performer and teacher. Cary had the pleasure of being part of the creation of many of Danny’s dance works until leaving the company in 2009. With DGDC, Cary taught in numerous public schools, was a guest teacher at University Settlement’s Beacon Camp, Eastern Michigan University and at The Yard in Martha’s Vineyard. She was responsible for training incoming DGDC teachers and coaching throughout their teaching residencies. Cary is no longer performing but is teaching at the Joyce Theater and The Center for Arts Education. She continues her work in NYC public and independent schools, and has led numerous professional education workshops for fellow teaching artist, dance educators and classroom teachers throughout the five boroughs. Cary lives with her husband, son and new pandemic puppy on the Upper West Side.
